The Gift of the Fasting Person

Hadith of the Day is a daily feature highlighting timeless sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the Ahlul-Bayt (pbut), offering insights into faith, ethics, and spirituality for contemporary life.

Hawzah News Agency- Shaikh al-Saduq narrated from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) who narrated from Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Sadabadi, from Ahmad ibn Abi Abd Allah al-Barqi, from Muhammad ibn Ali al-Kufi, from Muhammad ibn Sinan, from Abd Allah ibn Ayyub, from Abd al-Salam al-Iskafi, from Umayr ibn Ma’mun (whose daughter was married to Imam Hasan), that Imam Hasan (pbuh) said:

The gift of a fasting man is to oil his beard and scent his garment, and the gift of a fasting woman is to comb her hair and scent her garment.

And Imam Hussain (pbuh), whenever he fasted, used to apply perfume and say: “Perfume is the gift of the fasting person.”
